How Do You Do 'I Do'? | Hyde Park Bridal

Amanda Cacaro, owner of Hyde Park Bridal, shared her gorgeous destination wedding with us a few years ago to kick off our Wedding Spotlight blog series. We asked her to kick off our "How Do You Do 'I Do'?" series where we interview wedding vendors who have been a part of our couple's big day! We have featured many brides on our blog who have found the perfect dress at Hyde Park Bridal so we wanted to ask Amanda what's new in wedding dress design and to share her love, knowledge and enthusiasm for helping brides find the gown of their dreams.

Is there a style you wish more brides gave a chance? What do you think brides would enjoy about it?

Ball gowns! So many brides come in completely against a ball gown silhouette and it’s hard to get a bride to try one. When brides put on a full gown they feel like a princess and totally get the bridal moment they were hoping for! Ball gowns aren't for everyone but it’s fun to at least try one and you will be shocked at how much they can surprise you! I mean your wedding day is the one day you can go big....right?

What are you looking forward to this year at Hyde Park Bridal?

We recently expanded Hyde Park Bridal into our new second floor space! To say we are excited is an understatement! We have a gorgeous new bridal suite and the cutest pink spiral staircase leading to the new space. We now have room for more gowns and designers!

Since her store has been open, Amanda and her team have been recognized for numerous local and national honors including "Best of The Knot" and Wedding Wire's "Couples’ Choice Award" for five consecutive years. They were also recently recognized as one of the "Top 50 Best Bridal Salons" in the country by BRIDES magazine for the second year in a row. Hyde Park Bridal will celebrate its fifth year anniversary this September and we look forward to seeing what's in store for this beautiful shop!

Hyde Park Bridal opened almost five years ago! What changes have you noticed in wedding dress design since then?

It’s so fun to see how wedding gowns and trends have evolved just in the last five years since Hyde Park Bridal opened! There are still a lot of similarities of course, but each year we always see something a little new!

What I have noticed most about the designs of wedding gowns is the willingness of the designers and brides to take risk and try something out of the box! Each year the designs have gotten a little more unique with their embroidery, lace, color options, sleeve/straps, beading, etc.. We really have no idea what we are going to see when we go to bridal market and that’s the most exciting time for us!

Is there a certain style wedding dress that has been more popular than others in the past year or two? If so, what do you think it is about the dress that makes it so?

Over the past couple of years colored gowns have become much more popular and pretty standard for a bride to want. A large selection of our gowns are sampled in a blush, champagne and even a purple color.

Lace remains a classic but more brides want full long sleeve lace gowns or the option to add sleeves to a gown for the ceremony that can be removed for the reception.

Two-tone gowns where the lining is a different color than the top layer are all the rage right now. The lining really enhances the top lace and/or fabric creating the perfect pop of color. This design looks gorgeous, photographs amazing and our brides are really loving it!

The shape of the gowns for our brides is truly all over the place! We sell a variety of gownsilhouettes but more and more brides are loving a layered or textured skirt. From fit to flare or ball gowns, our brides love the drama a layered skirt gives their bridal gown!

We have added two new designers: Calla Blanche (the most swoon-worthy Pinterest type gowns) and Jim Hjelm by Hayley Paige (classic and elegant with the signature Hayley Paige flare). Hyde Park Bridal is now the exclusive Hayley Paige retailer for all of her lines in the Cincinnati area and beyond! Upstairs we can also fit more appointments into our weekends and schedule accessory only appointments as well which our brides are loving!
