Ashley + Brennan's Historic Burnham Hall Wedding Celebration

Jonathan Gibson Photography

How did you and Brennan meet?

Brennan and I actually met through mutual soccer friends years ago. Honestly, I blew him off back in 2012, but thankfully it was destined that we cross paths again in 2014 at a Super Bowl Party. Two weeks later we went on a date to see a concert in Columbus and the rest became history.

ASHLEY + BRENNAN’S summer wedding day was a beautiful mix of gold, pink and soft blush. They incorporated contemporary elements seamlessly into the historic atmosphere of The Renaissance Hotel's historic Burnham Hall. The blush, cream, and white floral focal arrangements by Courtenay Lambert Florals transformed the space into a summer dreamland. Jonathan Gibson Photography captured the day beautifully.

How were your personal styles reflected in your wedding day?

Brennan and I both had a very similar vision for our wedding day which made planning a little easier. We knew we wanted it to be timeless, elegant and romantic. I wanted to plan a wedding focused around our guest’s experience, so every decision we made reflected this. We wanted our guests to feel welcomed, but be wowed as well.

What were your favorite details?

Our flowers (Courtenay Lambert Florals) were STUNNING. I remember walking in for our sneak peek and Brennan was blown away, it literally brought tears to his eyes! Our draping, tablescapes, centerpieces, etc.…everything just seemed magical. The food was delicious, the cake and wedding favors were delightful and DJ Phil created the best party atmosphere we could have asked for!

Describe your wedding day. Is there a particular moment that remains in your memory most vividly?

Our wedding day was literally perfect and the best day of our lives. The whole day flew by so fast, but there are two memories that will forever be ingrained in memory. First, throughout the entire morning and afternoon I was very calm, but as the bus pulled up to P&G Gardens, I caught a glimpse of Brennan in his tux and I just started to cry like a baby, he looked so handsome!

I got so emotional knowing I would be marrying my best friend in just a couple hours. Secondly, the moment the Chapel doors opened and my father walked me down the aisle was such a special experience I’ll never forget.

I have always been a daddy’s-girl and that is a moment you look forward to growing up.

How did you decide on your venue? Why was it the perfect choice?

We chose Saint Ursula Academy Chapel for our Ceremony location. I graduated from SUA and it is a special honor to get married in such a beautiful chapel. As for our reception, I think I looked at every venue in the Cincinnati area! We booked Burnham Hall in The Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel the day we toured.

Not only did the ballroom have so much history and architecture we felt fit our vision perfectly, we knew we would be in great hands with Jordan Adams, the director we would get to work with! We wanted a venue that brought a sentimental feeling when guests walked in and Burnham Hall is simply stunning, we just felt it was the perfect fit to create such a memorable experience for us and our guests.

Where did you honeymoon?

Aruba…It was absolutely beautiful! We spent nine days there and it was the perfect relaxing getaway we needed. While there, we were able to celebrate my 30th birthday, which made it even more special!

Best advice you received on wedding planning?

The best wedding planning advice I received was to enjoy every aspect of the wedding. From the months of planning to the day of details, I was advised to enjoy it all because it only happens once. The second-best advice I received was to get a wedding coordinator and I couldn’t have asked for a better person than Karen Montgomery with ‘I-do Wedding & Events’. From day one, she knew exactly what I envisioned and exceeded every expectation being the leader of our A+ vendor team!

Best thing about being married?

The best thing about being married besides being able to call each other ‘husband’ and ‘wife’, is getting to experience every adventure in life with your best friend.
