Johanna + Andrew's Pinecroft Estate Wedding with the Most Fabulous Details

Tell us about the subtle bee motif you incorporated throughout your wedding.

I love monograms and the idea of "branding" your wedding.  I think having a logo or a key image incorporated into different elements really helps tie things together.  I wanted my guests to know I had worked really hard to pull everything together and incorporating our "bee" into so many of the pieces of our wedding helped convey that nothing was there by chance.  I picked the "bee" because I thought it was clever play on our married last name "Brun" and visually more interesting than just the letter "B". The irony is of course that I am deathly allergic to bees but I thought that made it even more personal!

Serena + Kale's Glamorous Fairy Tale Wedding

Black, white, and gold for a stunning, elegant celebration that hit the high spots of downtown Cincinnati including historic Music Hall. Serena, the beautiful bride, is part of the Corps de Ballet at the Cincinnati Ballet. The day was photographed by Leppert Photography.

When looking back on 2018 she writes: “Personally, it’s going to be hard to beat 2018. Getting married last July was HUGE!! But, at the end of 2019, I want to have loved more and stressed less! I hope to have experienced new adventures with my husband, and to have taken the time to enjoy every little thing that makes life with him so incredible! Professionally, I hope that I have grown more as an artist, especially in contemporary works. I also want to be stronger, both physically and mentally, and to be even more focused and determined to reach my goals.” - from Dancer Dreams

Best advice you received on wedding planning?

Pick your 3 "most important things" and prioritize them in the budget. Ours were Food, Bar, and Location. We cut anything we didn't remember vividly from other weddings we had attended, like favors, and reallocated that budget toward our Big 3. We supposed that our guests would prefer a nicer glass of wine than a small parting gift; based on our dance floor,I think we assumed correctly! In terms of ease, I think finding a venue that coordinates bar, catering, and other vendors is key in terms of creating an easy planning process.

Lastly, wedding day-of coordinators are worth every penny! Whether it is an additional hired expense or provided as part of your venue, Caroline (our coordinator from The Grand) was an invaluable resource- she coordinated our vendor comings and goings seamlessly.

What sort of vision did you have for your wedding stationery?

Going into the stationary consultation, I hoped our stationary could reflect both my personal style but also contain elements of Akash's South Indian heritage. I wanted the paper goods to drive the details of our wedding though it also had to be functional.

Modern & Whimsical Downtown Cincinnati Wedding Under the Roebling

How was your personal style reflected in your wedding day?

Many things were made ourselves or with the help of family (e.g., we did custom pint glass + chocolate covered pretzel party favors), and everything else was left to our wonderful vendors. In general, we wanted the wedding to be modern and whimsical, which it certainly was. We're also big fans of Dave Matthews Band, and the wedding showed it: Processional songs were string quartet covers of DMB songs, and our dinner playlist was a hand-picked selection of some of our favorite live song performances.

Jamie + Jeff's Modern Romantic Wedding Celebration with Lots of Sparkle

How did you find and decide on your dress?

At first I wanted a ballgown, but I am short so I kind of looked like a cupcake (not a cute one). A stylist at a bridal salon suggested the mermaid style and I loved it. I thought I looked like Jessica Rabbit! Va-Va-Voom. Anyway, I wanted a classic dress that I wouldn't look back in 10 years and go WTF? So I picked classic ivory silk mermaid gown with some modern elements including an asymmetric hem and a crumb catcher sweetheart neckline.

Caryn + Kenny’s Summer Wedding at The Renaissance Hotel

How was your personal style reflected in your wedding day?

I would describe my personal style as classic with a twist, and I think our wedding was reflective of that. My dress had a simple, flattering silhouette -- and I punched things up with a fun veil and a sparkly barrette for my hair. Our flowers were simple -- white roses and lots of greenery -- which offset the ballroom where the party took place. And for our first dance, we picked a more traditional song – “Everything” by Michael Buble -- and then surprised our guests by doing a choreographed number to Chris Brown's “Forever”. It was so much fun!

Kate + Nick's Santa Monica Wedding Celebration

Kate + Nick looked no further than their new hometown of Santa Monica, California with its incredible natural beauty as their wedding destination. Bridesmaids were gorgeous in their mix and match blush dresses carrying airy bouquets in blush, cream, and white florals. Flower girls wore baby’s breath floral crowns and looked like little flower fairies flanking the wedding ceremony arch. One of our favorite details was Kate’s incorporation of her love of blue and white pottery into the wedding reception place settings.

Samantha + David’s Gatsby Inspired Wedding Celebration

What’s your style?

Our wedding was black tie and the mood was a vintage/contemporary Gatsby. I am a sparkle girl at heart so there were definitely elements of that throughout our whole wedding, including the invitations. I chose to have our wedding black tie because it was such a special occasion and to fit the Gatsby mood. Nothing is more fun then getting dressed up for a night of celebrating!  I have a classic, edgy style but with our wedding I just wanted a sophisticated, romantic and beautiful evening with stunning flowers, chandeliers, candles and a good deal of sparkle. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Aziza + Daniel's Pinecroft Wedding Celebration

How were your personal styles reflected in your wedding day?

Daniel and I have very similar personal styles with few differences. We love everything classic, traditional and regal, be it music or architecture or fashion. We chose the Pinecroft Mansion because we wanted to get married at a venue that reflected our style. I chose a very classic ball gown silhouette for my dress and Daniel was very particular about the style of lapel on his tuxedo (he went with a shawl lapel!). We wanted our invitations to be very traditional and Kristen did a beautiful job of reflecting both of our styles in the design.

Anna & Nate’s Southern Wedding at Whitehead Manor

Tell us a little about you and Nate.

Total dreamboat, i’m beyond obsessed. He’s just so good, I come home with so many issues all the time and all he wants to do is fix them. He’s a fixer and a problem solver and that’s what I love most about him. His latest project has been the early planning and ground work on building us a house for our dogs and future family. He’s also really musically talented; he’s good at the guitar and just got a keyboard for Christmas. Since then he’s been serenading me while I cook dinners and sometimes I just don’t understand how I got so lucky.

Lindsay + Joe’s Dayton Art Museum Wedding

How was your personal style reflected in your wedding day?

I have always been all about anything that sparkles and thankfully we found tasteful ways to incorporate that into our day. Our sweetheart table had a sparkle overlay to it and our cake was on a stand that looked like it was covered in diamonds! My dress had a sparkle belt on it and although I wasn’t able to convince the guys to wear any sparkle, my bridesmaids had some sparkle on their dresses.
