Maggie + Bryan’s Charming Rainy Day Wedding

Maggie + Bryan's wedding just happened to fall on Cinco de Mayo so they decided to have a bit of fun with it at their beautiful Drees Pavilion reception. The day began in the charming town of Fort Thomas, Kentucky where the couple were married at St. Thomas Church on a slightly rainy day. The day was captured by Frame 805 Photography

How did you and Bryan meet? What was your first impression of him? What was his first impression of you?

Bryan and I knew each other through our high school but didn't date. We both played soccer so we were around each other during soccer seasons but didn't date until the end of high school going into college. It's been so long I don't remember first impressions. We started out as really good friends and as time went on it became official. We both attended the University of Kentucky, both graduated, returned home and planned our future.

How did you approach wedding planning?

I knew already I wanted to have our reception at the Drees Pavillon in Covington, KY after attending my uncles wedding a year earlier. With that being our priority we had to get their calendar and check available dates. The Drees, books up very far in advance therefore a decision had to be made rapidly. I picked 3 dates that were going to be less than a year away, contacted the church, band and catering and settled on May 5th. My mom and I made our lists and prepared a simple and elegant wedding which is totally my style. It was beautiful.

Tell us a little about you and Bryan.

We love hanging out with family and close friends on the weekend, watching anything UK related, GO CATS! We both grew up in Fort Thomas, KY and went to the same middle school and high school. We now have a house in Fort Thomas and don’t ever plan to leave! We are expecting our first niece/nephew on Halloween this year from Maggie’s brother Jake and sister in law Alex. We are also in my brother, Mitchell’s wedding on New Year’s Eve this year. It has been a very exciting year and we can’t wait for what’s to come! We love low key nights that involve good food and wine! We are both very family oriented and you can almost always catch us with them on the weekend at some point!

Tell us about the proposal.

On our sixth-year dating anniversary we had dinner reservations with my cousin Lauren Trame and her boyfriend Griffin Hughes at the Moerlein Lager House. Little did I know, Bryan had arranged to ask me to marry him afterwards downtown. It was a beautiful evening and Bryan asked Lauren, to take several pictures as he turned to me and got down on one knee. The rest was history. I was so grateful Lauren and Griffin were there to captured this special moment.

Describe your wedding day. Is there a particular moment that remains in your memory most vividly?

I loved having my wedding party at my parents’ house getting ready for the day. We got our hair and makeup done and got ready all while enjoying food and drinks. It was fun being together with my closest girls preparing for the excitement of the day. Unfortunately, it was raining but that wasn't going to spoil anything about our day. My most important moment was going to The Highlands to have pictures taken with my grandmother who wasn't able to attend. It was the best day ever and I love reliving it through pictures and conversations with family and friends.

Tell us about finding your dress.

Wedding dress shopping is every girls dream. I invited my bridesmaids, mom and mother in law to be. I tried on about 15 dresses in all different styles before finding "The One". It's true what everyone says, you know when it's the perfect dress. It was fun and stress free.

What song did you choose for your first dance?

Wanted by Hunter Hayes.

Tara Jurgens choreographed a dance for us that we surprised everyone with. We didn't tell anyone about it and it couldn't have been more perfect. My mom had tears in her eyes. I will always cherish this moment with Bryan and the looks on everyone’s faces.

What was your favorite detail?

My mom and I had the most fun designing the invitations. Poeme was the best in giving us suggestions on font styles, papers and the perfect writings for beautiful invitations, programs and seating charts. Having Poeme do the complete service of addressing, stuffing and mailing the invitations provided less stress on us during those critical times.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?

Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora, in the French Polynesian Islands. It absolutely was the most beautiful honeymoon we could ever have dreamed of.
