Kelsey + Steve’s Timeless Cincinnati Wedding

You officially win our most favorite person to work with during this wedding planning season! In all seriousness, your kindness, honesty and humor (when we needed it most!) was refreshing and appreciated. More than anything, our stationery was truly a dream! I loved every single ounce of how it turned out and you made it happen! Thank you for everything and for giving us the best reason to celebrate the power and art of custom invitations!
— Kelsey + Steve

Kelsey and Steve’s classic wedding vision came together beautifully on a late October day in Cincinnati. They were married at St. Xavier church in downtown Cincinnati and celebrated at Hyde Park Country Club where the space was transformed with gorgeous white florals and pops of greenery. Their stationery ensemble beautifully combines classic letterpress in slate gray on plush pearl cotton stock with custom watercolors. Kelsey + Steve’s wedding monogram featured on the main invitation and ceremony program is wreathed with watercolor greenery. A custom illustration of Cincinnati’s skyline by Who Drew on the enclosure cards and envelope liner set the tone and welcomed guests to the city!

Tell us a little about you and Steve. How did you meet?

Steve and I say we "met" in college but we had mutual friends in high school, which allowed our paths to cross a few times. We both went to Miami University and during our junior year, I asked him to a sorority date party and promised him he'd know someone else outside of me to make sure he'd say yes. The rest is history!

Tell us about the proposal.

We got engaged on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend in 2020, which was a highly-anticipated long weekend after the first few months of the pandemic. Steve asked me to dress up for a fancy night-in and after a homemade dinner, Steve convinced me to get in the car and head to Ault Park. He got down on one knee off to the side of the pavilion and surprised me afterwards with each of our immediate families there to celebrate!

Tell us about your wedding day.

Everyone tells you that your wedding day will fly by and I so desperately didn't want to believe them but it was true! We both have a specific memory of sitting at St. Xavier Church downtown during our ceremony and looking out at all of the faces that came to celebrate our day. It was overwhelming in the best way possible. We got to hear incredible toasts from our friends and parents and dance the night away with the best band - it was the best party!

How would you describe the style of your wedding?

Our hope was that we could look at pictures of our wedding in 10, 20 or 50 years and still think it would be "in style." When we landed on Hyde Park Country Club as our venue, we started envisioning a timeless & classic celebration and it was exactly what we dreamed it could be!

Tell us about your wedding stationery vision.

When we first got engaged, we sat down and decided what were going to be the most important pieces of our wedding. Our wedding stationery was one of the first things discussed, stemming from my mom's passion for high-quality, thoughtful paper products that make people happy. Our vision for our wedding stationery was something that was timeless and elegant but also celebrated the city we both grew up in and now call home - Cincinnati! We wanted people to appreciate the details and experience of opening a beautiful invitation.

What detail of the wedding was most important for you?

We actually agreed on this one! We both really wanted an awesome band that would keep everyone on the dance floor all night. The Sly Band did not disappoint!

Who was the person or resource you most leaned on during the planning process?

Without a doubt, it was my mom! She reminded me that every decision was supposed to be fun and exciting and she did the best job of celebrating the smallest moments throughout our planning process.
