Anna + Kenny's Interfaith Mercantile Library Wedding

We always ask our couples how their styles were reflected throughout their wedding day. For Anna + Kenny an interfaith wedding ceremony at The Mercantile Library, one of Cincinnati's historic treasures, followed by a Rhinegeist Brewery reception could not have been more fitting.

They share a love for "things that have a story" and carried that sentiment throughout all the small details from antique library place cards to the little free library wedding chapel. Megan Noll Photography captured the day beautifully.

How did you and Kenny meet? What were your first impressions of each other?

Kenny and I initially met on a dating app, but our first date was at Awakenings coffee shop in Hyde Park. I remember it being so easy to talk to him. We got Graeter's about halfway through, and after a really great few hours Kenny walked me back to my car on Michigan Ave (right outside your shop!) and kissed me goodnight. Right from the beginning we both knew this was something special. Our second date was just a few nights later - dinner at Abigail Street - and things just never stopped!

Tell us a little about you and Kenny.

Simply put, we're best friends! We live in OTR and love city life. Taking walks, trying new restaurants, and seeing live music are some of our favorite things to do together.

How was your personal style reflected in your wedding day?

We love vintage/old things that have a story, and we incorporated that into our wedding. Our ceremony was at the Mercantile Library, which perfectly captures our style. We carried the vintage feel and library theme into our reception with elements like an antique library card catalog that we used for place cards. I had my bouquet wrapped in lace from my mother's wedding dress, pinned with a vintage cameo pin. Kenny wore a tie clip that belonged to his grandfather. Our wedding was all about the details!

Tell us about the proposal.

Kenny proposed to me on June 9, 2016 - my birthday! We had a drink at our favorite bar - Liberty's Bar and Bottle in OTR - and then we went up to Mt. Adams for dinner at the Rookwood. Mt. Adams has always been special to us since Kenny lived there when we met, and we used to sit at the top of the hill (outside the Rookwood) and admire the view and talk. Anyway, we arrived to the Rookwood a little early, so Kenny suggested we sit and admire the view for a little while. Next thing I know, he's talking about how much he loves our life together and he was down on one knee! I said yes, we called our parents, and then celebrated with champagne and dinner at the Rookwood.

What was your favorite detail?

I really loved our wedding flowers - Eden Floral Boutique really brought my vision to life. Other details I loved: our macaron towers from Macaron Bar, the antique card catalog, and my dress :)

Mercantile Library interfaith wedding ceremony

How did you decide on your venue? Why was it the perfect choice?

We chose the Mercantile Library for a few reasons - we love the feel of it, I'm a huge reader, and it was the perfect space to have an Interfaith wedding ceremony. Kenny is Jewish and I'm Catholic, so we had both a Rabbi and a Deacon officiate. Since all of our family was coming in from out of town, we wanted to have our reception at a place we really love. Rhinegeist was perfect, because then our families and out of town guests got a taste of one of our favorite spots in the city.

Tell us about finding your dress.

I went dress shopping with my mom. We had a pretty good idea of what we were looking for, and the staff at Bridal and Formal was really helpful. I tried on maybe a dozen dresses total, but when I came out to show my mom the dress we ended up buying, she told me I was smiling differently than I had in the others. I tried on a few more, but kept coming back to "the" dress.
