Hayley + Kyle's Earthy Modern Austin Wedding

A destination wedding at Barr Mansion Ballroom and Farmstead in Austin, Texas for this young couple residing in Manhattan. Very simple, very clean, very modern. Square premium cotton paper corner-rounded and letterpressed in a crisp black ink. A liner just hinted at a ceremony under the chuppah adorned with pampas grass and orchids. We absolutely love Hayley’s two wedding day looks, her Vera Wang gown with tulle overlay and ruched sleeves is stunning and her simple, chic reception dress was perfect for a night of dancing! How would you describe the overall style of your wedding?

The style of our wedding was "New York City meets Austin". Kyle and I both live in New York but we were getting married in Austin and we wanted to have a perfect blend of the two. It was earthy yet modern and most importantly fun!

Did you have a strong idea for the design of your wedding stationery prior to your consultation?

I thought I did until I started. Going into wedding planning I had a very distinct vision and idea for what our wedding weekend would look and feel like. Stationery was the one area that I truly felt a little lost and uncertain. Even ask Kristen, I probably changed the design at least 12 times before landing on my dream invitations.

How did you envision the stationery, flowers, cake, and decor working together to create a cohesive look?

Stationery is the first thing your guests will get from your wedding. It provides a sneak peek of what they can expect and sets the mood. I didn't want it to feel too different from the rest of the vibe of the wedding but I also was a bit more natural and earthy when it came to the colors to for the invite. I didn't want anything too bold or loud which was very different from the florals of the wedding. I think my invites were the perfect mix and helped create a cohesive vision.

What part of the process did you find most interesting? What part did you find most challenging?

I really enjoyed the process even though I was a bit indecisive at times. I thought it was interesting to see how when you changed such a small element of the design, like the color of the font, could really change the overall feel of the invite from formal to more casual. I think that is also what I found to be the most challenging. There were so many "rules and etiquette" to follow which I had no idea about prior to this experience. Working with Poeme and Kristin was like working with the stationery guru she knew it all and put me at ease with every last question!
