Lilly + Nick’s Bright Summer Wedding with Gorgeous Florals

Lilly and Nick celebrated with a small group of family and friends in a gorgeous, floral filled reception at Lilly’s parent’s home. The sun-filled dining room was transformed with long tables set with florals in soft pinks, cream, silvery greenery, and hints of blue. Warm light from votives and taper candles dressed neutral linens and created a romantic and cozy ambiance. The stationery was elegant and classic with a custom crest of lilies as a nod to the bride’s name. The suite features black lettering and gold foil on a crisp white stock. The day was captured by Megan Noll Photography.

Tell us a little about you and Nick.

Nick and I met in Lexington, Ky in 2014 where I was in nursing school at the University of Kentucky and Nick was visiting his parents during his offseason from playing professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians organization. We met through mutual friends and stayed in touch during his baseball career, and started officially dating during his offseason in 2017.

Tell us about the proposal.

Nick and I took our first trip as a couple to Chicago where we fell in love with Chicago and even more so in love with each other. For his 30th birthday, we planned a trip to Chicago With all our closest friends and siblings. The first night we were there, we were on our way to have pre-dinner cocktails on our friends rooftop that overlooked the city. He blindfolded me, and walked me to the beautiful view of the skyline of Chicago and got down on one knee! After I said a BIG yes, I turned around and our parents were there too!

How would you describe the style of your wedding?

Clean, crisp white and gold coloring with the warmth of our closest, loving family and friends.

Tell us about your wedding stationery vision and how it came together.

I wanted the invitations to be clean with pops of gold. I love the Lilly flower (not just because of my name) and wanted a crest but didn’t know how to incorporate them both. Kristen is unbelievably talented and created our own custom crest made out of Lilly flowers that popped with foil gold. When I went to pick up the invitations she took one out to show me and I was overwhelmed with tears of joy. She made our wedding invitation dreams come true.

What part of the wedding planning process was the most fun?

Planning with my mom- she has always been my biggest supporter and best friend and planning with her made it feel like we could open a business together-  this was our first time experiencing working together like this and we nailed it. When COVID hit and we had to completely change our plans and city location, my mom called and booked our caterer, church, venue (their house!), and informed all other vendors within 10 minutes. She’s truly a superwoman and I love her so much.

What detail of the wedding was most important for you?

The band and flowers were super important to us! We wanted the room to be filled with gorgeous flowers which Marti Heard just did an outstanding job - she’s the best of the best. We wanted a band that would be great at performing but also have fun with us and the crowd and they did exactly that! I don’t think I left the stage once!

What detail was most important to Nick?

The band- this man LOVES to dance and this is actually how he got my attention when we met-by twirling me around to the music! He was so happy with the Sly Band and we danced the night away.

Who was the person or resource you most leaned on during the planning process?

Our wedding planner Sara Must- by the end of the wedding process we felt like Sara had been our lifelong friend. She was so easy to work with and made our job so easy with her amazing eye for details. She never even batted an eye when we decided to move everything to Cincinnati - she drove up every week to meet with us and plan and didn’t let us think twice about it. We can’t wait to have her help us plan an anniversary party in the future!

Funky’s Catering was outstanding at helping us out together an outstanding selection in such a short period of time. They are the best!!
