Lauren + Cesar's elegant November wedding with romantic reception at Cincinnati's historic Hall of Mirrors on the blog this week. Lauren + Cesar's soft winter color palette carried through from Cesar's lavender bowtie to Lauren's wintery white bouquet to the tall elegant floral arrangements that added drama to the reception space. Lauren's bridal veil catching the wind outside of the church is one of our favorite photos from the day taken by Glenn Tatman Photography.

Tell us a little about you and Cesar.

We first met in the fall of 2005 and built up a great friendship before starting to date August, 2007. We fell in love quickly but were both working on our degrees across the country. After starting off long distance, then re-locating to the same city, we got married in November of 2017. We will now be expecting our first child right around our 1 year anniversary and couldn’t wish for a better blessing.

How did you decide on your venue? Why was it the perfect choice?

Our venue was the Hall of Mirrors in the Hilton Netherland Plaza. The room had so much history and architecture which fit our styles perfectly. We wanted a venue that brought a nostalgic feeling when guests walked in. The Hall of Mirrors is simply stunning and we didn’t want to create that feeling with décor and a blank slate. The Hall of Mirrors already brought the romantic feel to our day and really set the tone.

How were your personal styles reflected in your wedding day?

We both had a very similar vision for our wedding day which made it easy. We knew we wanted to go for the timeless and elegant feel. Both of us are the easy going type and we didn’t want to be too over the top. So every decision we made reflected this.

What were your favorite details?

One of our favorite details were the flowers. We spent some time trying to find the right florist and Lisa really exceeded our expectations. She took our vision and made it come to life. The centerpieces really highlighted the room and brought the drama we wanted. Not to mention the pin spot lighting by Billy Reeder at Clear Lighting which really highlighted them.

The music was a staple in the wedding night. DJ Jon Jon kept everyone dancing the entire night which was EXACTLY what we wanted. We were told on countless occasions by many people how our wedding was the most fun wedding they had been to in a long time.

Describe your wedding day. Is there a particular moment that remains in your memory most vividly?

The day seemed calm. All of our hard work was done and just falling into place, making it easy for us to sit back and take in every moment. It was important to us not to see each other before walking down the aisle. We know the first look has become popular but we wanted to stick with tradition on this one. We truly wanted to share that moment with our family and friends. However, one of the best memories we shared was holding hands around the outside of the church door right before the ceremony started. We got to have that special moment together without taking away the element of surprise.

What helped you in the planning process? What resources did you find helpful?

Taylor Huesmann (Hilton) was instrumental in keeping us organized and on task throughout the whole process. I cannot say enough amazing things about her. Also, I had a wedding binder/checklist that helped me to make sure I wasn’t forgetting any of the small details. There is so much information coming at you quickly that it was nice to keep it all in once place and stay organized.

Best thing about being married?

Best thing about being married is knowing that we get to wake up everyday for the rest of our lives together.

Where did you honeymoon?

St. Lucia. We spent one week at the Sandals Grande and one week at Ladera up in the Pitons—breathtaking views
