Kiley + Adam’s Elegant Wedding Reception at The Renaissance Hotel Cincinnati

Kiley described her style and wedding day perfectly: Classic, elegant, with a hint of glamour. A beautiful Cincinnati wedding ceremony at Church of the Redeemer followed by downtown reception at historic Burnham Hall at The Renaissance Hotel.

Her bridesmaids wore elegant navy dresses and carried perfect bundles of white florals with just a touch of green. We love Kiley + Adam's (and sister, Kendall's) hilarious first look story. Photography by Megan Noll Photography.

How did you decide on your venue? Why was it the perfect choice?

I knew from the beginning that I wanted a large ballroom in a venue that was in downtown Cincinnati; when I toured the Renaissance, I knew right away that it would be absolutely perfect for our wedding. The Burnham Hall in the Renaissance is elegant and classic, but the gold vaulted ceiling certainly added the drama and glamour that I was looking for. I also loved the convenience of hosting the reception in a hotel, because it took the guess work out of logistics for our guests. The whole Renaissance staff was wonderful throughout the planning process and the execution of the event.

Tell us a little about you and Adam.

Adam and I have been together for almost 7 years, since we were just 19 years old. I knew who Adam was in high school because his high school's basketball team played against my high school's basketball team, and as a cheerleader I deemed him the cutest player from the opposing team! We officially met in a zoology class at Miami University our sophomore year. After graduation we did two years of longish distance between Cincinnati and Columbus, before I officially made the move up to Columbus. Adam proposed while we were vacationing on Santa Rosa beach in Florida--he got down on one knee as we walked along the beach watching the sunset.

How were your personal styles reflected in your wedding day?

Adam and I both have a very classic style, which is just how we wanted the wedding to be. My ultimate goal was to make the whole day feel classic and elegant, with a little bit of glamour.

Describe your wedding day. Is there a particular moment that remains in your memory most vividly?

As most brides say, the day really was a whirlwind and it did fly by. However, I definitely felt more relaxed that I thought I would. I had so much fun getting ready with my bridesmaids and mom, and they helped to put me in a very calm and excited mindset. A moment the remains in my mind is the first look between Adam and I (and my sister!). In an attempt to sneak a peak of the first look, my sister Kendall "hid" behind the corner. Apparently she didn't do a great job of hiding, because Adam looked at her first when he turned around! The three of us got a good laugh out of that.

What were your favorite details?

One of my favorite details was definitely my dress. I knew since I was a little girl that I wanted a dramatic, poofy wedding dress, and that's exactly what I got. It was so fun to finally wear the dress I had been envisioning for years--however the volume did make dancing difficult! The night would not have been the same without our band, Soul Pocket; they kept people of all ages on the dance floor until the light came on. And of course the stationery! Kristen helped us achieve the clean and simple look I was going for, which looked fantastic in the invitation suite and all of the day-of materials.

Best thing about being married?

It doesn't feel too different, but it is nice to refer to Adam as my husband, and I still get caught off-guard when I hear Adam call me his wife!

What helped you in the planning process? What resources did you find helpful?

My mom and my sister were both extremely helpful, especially since we just went through the wedding planning process with my sister a few years ago. Because I live out of Cincinnati, my mom was a great stand-in for any meetings with vendors that I couldn't attend. We also could not have gotten through the wedding day without the girls from Simply Events. They kept everyone on schedule, in place, and stress free!
