Allison + Paul’s Cincinnati Wedding with Elegant Gold Invitation

Allison + Paul were married in The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington whose construction began in 1895 and was modeled after the magnificent Notre Dame with its stain glass windows and awe inspiring architecture. The reception was held in the Pavilion Ballroom in the hilton Netherland Plaza. The spaciousness of the Ballroom made it the perfect choice for the reception and was decorated with beautiful florals by Ford-Ellington. Allison + Paul choose an elegant invitation suite with beaded border and gold thermography. We love how the laser cut metallic wrap on the invitation tied in with the intricate detailing on Allison's gown. Bridesmaids were beautiful in their gold sparkling gowns and Allison was a gorgeous bride. The day was captured by Laura Leppert of Leppert Photography.

Tell us about the proposal.

Paul proposed to me a week before Christmas. Paul told me that we were invited to a work Christmas party so we got all dressed up and we were on our way to the party. We left a little early so we decided to drive around for a bit and take the scenic route to Mt. Adams. Paul asked if we wanted to stop and get a drink to kill some time so he pulled over at the Rookwood which overlooked Cincinnati. We were looking at the view and next thing I knew Paul was on one knee with a stunning ring. I don't think I could have said "yes" any faster. (P.S. there was no Christmas Party). Paul told me that all our friends and family were back at my house ready to celebrate!

How did you decide on your venue? What aspects of the venue did you enjoy most?

Since we had such a large wedding, the venues in the area were scarce. I loved the idea of having an elegant downtown wedding that had a lot of history behind it. We chose the Hilton Netherland Plaza because of the decor and services it provided. The Pavilion Ballroom was perfect with the stage for our live band and the tall ceilings for our flowers. From the first day we met the Hilton's wedding coordinator Taylor, she made sure everything down to the last detail was perfect for us.

What was your favorite detail?

Our favorite details were the flowers and the band. Kevin Ford of Ford-Ellington Floral Design made our room spectacular and the band kept us dancing all night long.

Tell us a little about you and Paul.

Paul and I have been together for about four years now (and married for two months :)). We both grew up in Northern Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky. I am a 1st grade teacher at Latonia Elementary in Covington, Kentucky and Paul is an Underwriter at Great American Insurance Group. Paul is a huge sports fan (UK basketball, Notre Dame Football, St. Louis Cardinals... to name a few) so we travel all over to see these teams play. We are both very family oriented and love to spend time with friends and family. We are waiting for our Chocolate Lab, Yadi, to be born to add to our family :)

Describe your wedding day. Is there a particular moment that remains in your memory most vividly?

Our wedding day is a day that we will never forget. My favorite memory from the wedding was the private time Paul and I had after the ceremony and before the reception. After we left the church, we walked out the courtyard and got to celebrate us, just us two. Also, we did not have a first look so walking down the aisle to Paul will be a memory I will never forget.

How did you and Paul meet? What was your first impression of him? What was his first impression of you?

Paul and I met in 2013 when I was a student at the University of Kentucky. He had graduated prior from the University of Kentucky so we knew of each other but never really formally met. My little sister, Meredith, and his little sister, Sarah, had been trying to set us up since high school! My first impression of Paul was how much of a gentleman he was and his amazing personality. On our first date, there wasn't a silent moment. I felt like I had known him forever. Paul says his first impression of me was how beautiful, sweet, and nice I was.
